2012 Lobster & Steak Social
Now that the "homard" are gracing our shores, the annual lobster doo, was held at the Jack Blanchard Centre, Pond St., Charlottetown on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012. The event this year was catered by "Dragonflies", and they didn't disappoint anyone. The menu consisted of a scallop salad, clam chowder (including a gluten free variety), various cold salads, and 1.5 lb. lobsters, complete with garlic butter. There were a few who opted for the steaks, too bad! The dessert table was to die for as there were cookies and squares, and cakes, and the infamous strawberry shortcake, including an old Scottish favourite recipe for the bannock. With the blessing by Fr. Eric Dunn, it didn't take long for the "Islanders" to make short order of the dinner.
Hats off to Dragonflies, as well as the Entertainment Committee of Phil Pitts, Paul Stetson and especially Lorne MacKinnon (who headed up the event this year). Lorne also donated many of the decorations from his private collection - a very nice touch. Thanks Lorne. Here's some PICs:
